It is with great sadness to inform you of the passing of Tony Baca, former Physical Education Instructor, Head Men's Soccer Coach, and Assistant Football Coach at Cypress College.
Tony began his teaching career at Savanna High School before joining the Chargers' PE/Athletics Department in 1971, where he filled numerous roles until retiring in 2008. He specialized in teaching health and first aid courses, along with his load of activity classes.
"We had many great years working together on the football coaching staff," said former Cypress College Dean of Physical Education/Athletics Director Larry Mercadante. "If you ask the old timers at Cypress College, they'll remember the Z buildings where our offices were located. We spent many long hours and made many great memories," said Mercadante.
Tony's funeral will take place on Saturday, November 25 at 11:30 am at St. Philip Benizi Church (235 S. Pine Dr., Fullerton, CA 92833).
