Sophomore softball standout, Janea Brannen, earned her second career Charger of the Week Award during Thursday's practice. Brannen is the first member of the softball team to earn the award this season.

The sophomore plays first base and pitcher for the Chargers, but she did her damage last week with the bat. The Chargers opened up OEC play last Wednesday where Brannen went 3 for 3 with 3 RBI's. The All-State Selection notched a triple, double, and a single to lead Cypres to a 12-0 win. The Chargers hosted Citrus on Saturday, as Brannen knocked in another RBI to help Cypress take down the Owls. Brannen leads the OEC with a 0.73 ERA, and ranks 5th in RBI's with 12. 

In her freshman season,  Janea Brannen was selected OEC Pitcher of the Year, leading the conference with 19 wins in the circle this season. Brannen also posted 113 strikeouts and a 2.07 ERA this season. At the plate, Brannen hit for .373 AVG, leading the Chargers with 35 RBI, 10 doubles, and 4 home runs on her way to an All-State Team selection.

Cypress Softball (7-0, 2-0 OEC) will return to action today, February 21st, when they take on Saddleback in their third OEC matchup of the year.
