Cypress Breaks School Diving Record In Second OEC Meet
Chargers Take on Familiar Competition in Riverside
RIVERSIDE, CA - Cypress College saw solid performances at the second Orange Empire Conference meet of the year including the new school record for the 1M and 3M dive. The Cypress Men's Team came up in 4th place with a 245 team score.
Leading the charge was Giovanni Demuro who put up the most points with 42 for the team. Demuro competed in the 50 yard freestyle, 100 yard freestyle, and 100 yard butterfly. Demuro stayed consistent earning a 22.79 in his 50 free and a 50.55 in his 100 free. In his 100 fly he posted a time of 54.32 cementing a top 6 finish in each of his races. Following Demuro was Niccolo Scornaienghi who was responsible for breaking the school diving record in both the 1M and 3M dive. Niccolo put up some impressive scores including a 348 and a 311.65 securing first place in both events. Sean Eoin Tannehill was a standout as well achieving second place in the 400 yard IM and 200 yard Fly. Tannehill is no stranger to doing long distance and tough races. Tannehill had times of 4:21.87 and 1:56.82 dropping significant time from what he was seeded. Lastly, Porter Rosenlof also competed in the 1M and 3M dive with a strong performance securing 3rd place and putting up 32 team points. The Chargers battled hard and will have a chance to race their conference foes again at the end of the season.
UP NEXT: The Chargers will compete in the the Pasadena Invite on Friday, April 4 at East Los Angeles College.
