Chargers Outlast Moorpark in 1-0 Finish

CYPRESS, CA - Cypress Men's Soccer (2-4-1) defeated the Moorpark Raiders (2-6) on Tuesday, September 19th at Ray Haas Field, 1-0.

Coming off of their first victory of the season, the Chargers welcomed Moorpark College at Cypress College. The game started with the Chargers being dominant with possession as the home team gave little opportunity for the visiting Raiders.

At the ninth minute, Cypress broke through with the lone goal of the game. With action in the box, freshman Angel Cristobal booted the ball to the back of the net which was assisted by David Rezko. The consistent pressure allowed the Chargers to keep the ball away from the Moorpark offense. A few miscues by the defensive ball handling allowed the Raiders to stay in the game but did not lead to any damage on the scoreboard. The Chargers outshot the Raiders 17 to 7 while the home team keeper only had to make one save.

Cristobal scored the lone goal in the game to boost Cypress over Moorpark in his single shot on goal. Angel Leyva managed to shoot four times with two being on goal. Chargers goalkeeper Juvencio Rodriguez played all 90 minutes as he recorded a save.

UP NEXT: The Chargers will visit Saddleback for their first conference game on Tuesday, September 26th at 3:00PM.
