Brennon Palmer Inks with NCAA Division II Purdue Northwest

CYPRESS, CA – Cypress College men's basketball standout, Brennon Palmer, accepted a scholarship offer from NCAA Division II Purdue University Northwest on Monday. Palmer was the lone sophomore on the Chargers' 2017-18 men's basketball roster.

"I chose PNW because I have a great relationship with coach Noel," said Palmer. Coach Noel Larkins, now a first year assistant coach in the PNW men's basketball program, was an assistant on the Chargers' men's basketball staff from 2014-16. Palmer went on to say, "I really wanted to work with him again. He is going to push me to be better because he has seen my growth."

The Valencia High School alumnus averaged 12 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game during his two-year stint with the Chargers. However, he is primarily known for his leadership and versatility on the defensive end of the floor, as he was often tasked with guarding the opposition's primary scorer regardless of position. "I want to be the best defender in the entire conference and I want to be a team leader who holds people accountable," said Palmer. "I'm really looking forward to the challenge of being a leader and lockdown defender at the next level."

Palmer also excelled in the classroom, maintaining a 3.6 GPA as a student athlete at Cypress. "Coming to Cypress College is one of the best things that's ever happened to me. My experiences here have helped me become a man. I came here at 17 years old and now I'm 20, so my whole mentality is different."

He plans to major in psychology while attending Purdue Northwest, and will either get a doctorate or attend law school after earning his bachelor's degree from PNW.
