Women's Tennis Open Conference Play With 6-3 Victory Over Fullerton

CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College women's tennis team (2-2, 1-0 OEC) opened Orange Empire Conference play with a 6-3 victory over district rival Fullerton College (2-2, 0-1 OEC) at home on Thursday.

The match began with singles play as the Chargers grabbed their first point from #4 Candace Ngai. Following her win, Alyanna Soriano kept the momentum going without dropping a game.

The Chargers began doubles-play leading 4-2. #3 pair Park and Ngai picked up the clinching match with a dominant 8-1 victory.

"It was a really good victory for us," said Kristen Ojeda. "It was a good way to start conference and I'm really proud of each and every one of the girls. All of us improved; whether we won or lost we upped our game."

The Chargers will resume Orange Empire Conference play on Tuesday, Feb. 28 when they host Irvine Valley College at 2:00 p.m.
