Chargers Swim Takes 9th Place of Twenty Teams at Mt. San Antonio Invitational

Walnut, CA- The Cypress College Chargers Swimming & Diving competed at the Mt. SAC Swimming & Diving Invitational February 24-26. Both the teams placed 9th in the meet, the women finished with 223 points while the men scored 201. Twenty schools attended the tournament with Sierra College winning the women's title and Cuesta College winning the men's title. 

The Chargers were lead on the men's side by event winners Ethan Umpornpuckdi (500 Freestyle, 4:52.31) and Brandon Rubio (200 Butterfly, 2:09.38). Umpornpuckdi also added two 2nd place finishes in the 400 IM and 200 Breaststroke. The Women were lead by Nicole Maslog and her three top 5 finishes (3rd 500 Free, 4th 400 IM, 5th 200 Butterfly). Marisol Narvaez had the highest placement on the women's side with a 2nd place finish in the 200 Breaststroke.

Head Coach Frisk Driscoll said, "We got to see some of the best programs in the state this weekend and I believe we held our own. We are in a stretch of weekends where we are competing a lot which will allow us to assess what elements of our racing are improving and what we need to continue to focus on."
