Sophomore women's volleyball standout, Kayla Owens, earned her first Charger of the Week this season and second of her career during Thursday's practice.

Owens put on a show in the volleyball team's four matches last week. The Santa Fe High School alumna notched 55 kills, 26 digs, and 7 aces, propelling the Chargers to the No. 15 spot in the first CCCWVCA Coaches Poll of the season and a third place finish at the San Diego Mesa Invitational. Owens' best performance of the week came in Saturday's third place game against tournament host San Diego Mesa, where she finished with a game-high 22 kills, along with 9 digs and 2 aces in a five set thriller.

The women's volleyball team is currently 5-2 on the season heading into Orange Empire Conference play on Friday night at Orange Coast College. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
