Bio

Erick Hurtarte has been Head Coach for the Chargers soccer program since 2014. Recently, he led the Chargers to the 2023 3C2A State Finals. Hurtarte was an assistant coach for the Chargers soccer program for 12 years before being named head coach.  Erick also coached women's soccer for Fullerton College and Saddleback College prior to his career at Cypress College.

Coach Hurtarte won a CIF Championship with Bell Gardens High School as a player in 1991 and was named the CIF 2A Player of the Year during his high school career.  After high school, Erick continued his playing career at Chapman University.  At Chapman, Erick helped lead his team to a D3 Final Four appearance 1995. He finished his career at Chapman as an All-American player before graduating with his Bachelor's Degree in exercise science.

Coach Hurtarte has over 20 years of coaching experience.  Erick is the Coaching Director with CDA Slammers FC Cerritos and coaches Girls '07 and Girls '08 for CDA Slammers. Erick is also the an assistant coach for women's soccer at Sunny Hills High School.
