The Saddleback men's water polo team picked up a win in Orange Empire Conference play with a 16-7 victory at Cypress College on Wednesday. The Gauchos led from start to finish.
Saddleback opened up a 5-1 lead after the opening quarter as five different Gauchos scored to send a statement to the Chargers. Aidan Caporicci, Matthew Mulfinger and Andrew Carter would add three more goals in the second quarter as Saddleback took an 8-4 lead into the locker room at the half.
Saddleback would increase the lead to 11-5 in the third quarter after Carter, Carson Williams and Mulfinger tallied goals to put the game out of reach. Carter would finish his hot day with two more goals in the fourth quarter.
Carter and Mulfinger finished with four goals apiece while Williams finished with a team-high four assists.
Saddleback (8-12, 1-3) will play again this Friday and Saturday at the Golden West/Saddleback Invitational. They open with a game against Long Beach City College on Friday at 7:30 AM at Golden West College.
