Prior to this role, she served as a Sports Information/Marketing Intern with Cypress College Athletics during the 2021-2022 season. A former California Community College student-athlete and current Athletic Administrator, Michelle has three years of experience at the California Community College level. She holds a Master’s in Sport Management and a Bachelor’s in Psychology. Her extensive experience with the 3C2A encompasses roles as a sports information and marketing professional, game manager, and special event coordinator. Michelle’s primary goal is to enhance athletic programs and foster inclusive environments. Her leadership skills and innovative approaches have significantly contributed to the success of Cypress College Athletics.
At Cypress, Michelle manages all marketing and communications for 13 intercollegiate sports, including social media and website management, game management, branding, content creation, and statistics. Since being named SID, Michelle has initiated in-game entertainment and giveaways to boost fan engagement, coordinated home events celebrating diversity and inclusivity (such as Hispanic Heritage Month, LGBTQ+ Pride, and Black History Month), and organized the department’s first student-athlete orientation, introducing over 150 student-athletes to campus resources and expectations. She also organized the department’s first formal Hall of Fame event in 2023, added branding to facilities, and increased social media following by 45%. Additionally, she oversees the Sports Information/Marketing internship and volunteer program.
In addition to her work at Cypress, Michelle is the CEO and Program Director for Evolution Athletics Academy LLC, a youth basketball fundamental program for girls in the City of Downey Community. She manages all program logistics and equipment, hiring and training, marketing, branding, social media, and budget.
Before joining Cypress College, Michelle worked at the City of Downey Parks & Recreation Department for nine years. She began as a recreation leader and was later promoted to Youth & Adult Sports Activity Specialist. In this role, she oversaw 10 youth sports, managed staff, contractors, coaches, and officials, designed marketing materials, organized camps and community events, and established the first adult women’s basketball league in 2017.
In 2019, Michelle interned with the WNBA LA Sparks organization in Youth Basketball Operations. She assisted the Jr. Sparks community outreach program with administrative duties, event planning, and day-of-event responsibilities for youth basketball clinics, camps, and tournaments.
Currently residing in Buena Park, CA, Michelle is an avid WNBA fan.
