Bio

Wes McCurtis is in his sixth season as Cypress College’s Athletic Director and Associate Dean of Kinesiology. Wes was formally introduced as the Athletic Director in August 2019, after being promoted from a four-year stint as Cypress College’s Sports Information & Marketing Director.  

As Athletic Director and Associate Dean of Kinesiology, Wes oversees all aspects of the College’s 14 intercollegiate athletic programs and all athletic related courses, providing support for 250 student-athletes. Wes has continued to improve upon the student-athlete experience by creating support programs like the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Student-Athlete Success Center (SASC). He’s helped engage the alumni community through the creation of the Cypress College Athletics Hall of Fame and is involved in all Kinesiology and Athletics related facility improvement projects. 

Along with his role at Cypress, Wes is involved at the conference, state, and national level for two-year college athletics as a NATYCAA Executive Committee Member, 3C2A Equity & Inclusion Committee Member, CCCADA 2nd Vice President, 3C2A Softball Management Council Representative, and Orange Empire Conference Men’s Basketball Administrator.. He also serves as an adjunct instructor for the Sports Management master's program at California State University, Long Beach.

Previous Role 
Wes previously served as the Sports Information & Marketing Director at Cypress College from 2015-2019, where he helped grow the Cypress College Athletics brand. He was honored as the 19th recipient of the California Community College Sports Information Association’s "Brass Top Award" in 2019 and served as the webmaster and public relations representative for the Orange Empire Conference. 

He graduated from California Lutheran University in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in business administration, before earning his master's degree in Sports Management from Long Beach State in 2016.
