CYPRESS, CA – Sophomore libero/defensive specialist Emily Witz has earned Charger of the Week (Nov. 21-27) after leading Cypress to two massive Southern California Regional Playoff victories against Canyons College and Moorpark College, which advanced the Chargers to the State Championship Tournament.

Witz led the Chargers with 11 digs in the Chargers 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-11) sweep of Canyons College. She also had one service ace. In the match against Moorpark, Witz had 13 digs and two service aces as the Chargers won 3-1 (25-16, 28-26, 22-25, 25-13) and advanced to the CCCAA State Championships for the first time since 2010 and the third time in the history of the program.

The Long Beach Wilson High School alumna is the fourth member of the volleyball team to be awarded Charger of the Week this season. The Chargers open up the State Tournament at LA Pierce College this Saturday at 11:00 a.m. against Fresno City College.
