CYPRESS, CA - Sophomore setter Samantha Martinez has earned Charger of the Week (Sept. 5-11) after leading the Cypress College women's volleyball team to a second place finish at the Cerritos Invitational.

The Chargers defeated Glendale, San Bernardino, Cerritos, Long Beach, and Canyons before falling to Mira Costa in the tournament final. Martinez finished the tournament with a team high 19 aces and 247 assists over the 6 game stretch.

The Trabuco Hills alumna is the first member of the women's volleyball team to recieve Charger of the Week this season. The Chargers are currently ranked seventh in the state with an 8-1 overall record.
