CYPRESS, CA – Sophomore forward Kailey Merino has earned Charger of the Week (Oct. 3-9) after leading the Chargers to a 6-0 win over Santa Ana College at home last Friday.

Merino scored two goals in the first half to give the Chargers a 2-0 lead. In the second half she notched a third goal to complete the hat-trick and extend the Chargers lead to 4-0. Merino currently leads the team with 8 goals and 20 points this season. 

The Canyon High School alumna is the second member of the women's soccer team to receive Charger of the Week this season. Cypress is riding a seven game unbeaten streak and currently sit in second place in the Orange Empire Conference.
