Monique Mesa Earns Charger of the Week (Jan. 30-Feb. 5)

CYPRESS, CA – Sophomore forward Monique Mesa has earned Charger of the Week (Jan. 30–Feb. 5) after leading the No. 15 Chargers past No. 18 Orange Coast College on Friday night. 

Mesa came off the bench for the Chargers and scored a career-high 20 points on 9-of-17 shooting as she led the Chargers to a 78-71 2OT win. With 41 seconds left in the game Mesa scored a layup to send the game to overtime. Then in overtime she scored with 4 seconds left to tie the game 67-67 and force a second overtime. Mesa was also a force on the boards as she pulled down 12 rebounds and had a key block that led to her game tying layup to force the first overtime. 

The Cantwell Sacred Heart of Mary High School alumna is the third member of the women's basketball team to receive Charger of the Week this season.
