CYPRESS, Calif. --- Desiree Lopez (20-11), pitched a shutout for the Chargers in game two of the first round best of three series vs. Grossmont College on Sunday afternoon. 

Cypress defeated Grossmont (2-0) in the best of three matchup as they officially advance into the second round of the regional playoffs today after their 8-0 victory over the visiting Griffins.

Khailey Campos scored the first run of the game for the Chargers when Alendrina Pichardo flied out to center field in the bottom of the first inning.

The score sat still at 4-0 throughout the first three and a half innings until Campos drove in Makia Hastings for the fifth Charger run of the contest.

Chelsee Herron shut the door on Grossmont in the bottom of the fifth when she singled to center field, driving in Jessica Gutierrez and Kathy Villa for the final two runs of the game.

Herron also led the Lady Chargers with 3 RBI on the day.

Jessica Gutierrez earned her sixth stolen base of the season today while Makia Hastings stole a base in the contest to now lead the Chargers with eight on the year.

The Lady Chargers will now prepare to host the Super Regionals that will take place on May 9-11 at Cypress College.
