CYPRESS, Calif. ---  The Chargers led the Rustlers by a score of 3-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning on Thursday afternoon and the bat kept getting hotter.

Chelsee Herron's single advanced Mylee Macahilig to third base and drove in Kathy Villa for another Cypress run in the bottom of the fifth.  Kelsey Choate doubled immediately after, bringing in Herron and Macahilig for two more Charger runs.

With the score at 7-0, Rikki Almanza came in to pinch hit in the bottom of the fifth and delivered a clutch single which drove in Jessica Gutierrez for the game winning point.

the 8-0 five inning shutout victory was their third five inning victory for the Lady Chargers this season as they defeated both Bakersfield College and Southwestern earlier in the year in similar fashion.

Alejandra Guillen won her third game of the year for the Chargers and only allowed three hits in the contest for Cypress.

Cypress is currently riding a four game winning streak as they travel to Santa Ana later today to face the (16-4) highly ranked Dons.

The Chargers defeated Santa Ana in Cypress back on February 19 of this season.  The Dons were in first place at the time when Cypress knocked them off, handing them their first loss of the 2014 season.

The Lady Chargers play in a double header at home this Saturday, March 15, with the first game vs. Citrus starting at 11:00 AM.
