Cypress Falls to Saddleback

Cypress Falls to Saddleback

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. ---  The Chargers let up four runs in the bottom of the first inning and couldn't manage to claw their way back against the Saddleback Gauchos on Wednesday afternoon.

Alejandra Guillen tried sparking the rally for Cypress when she homered in the top of the second inning, putting Cypress on the board with their first run of the day.

After a few scoreless innings, Alendrina Pichardo doubled to center field in the top of the sixth, which drove in Mylee Macahilig for the second Chargers run.

Cypress eventually ran out of time and came up short against the Gauchos, 2-5.

Macahilig ended up going 2 for 3 on the day with her one run scored while Pichardo went 1 for 3 with her RBI in the top of the sixth.

The Chargers (3-2) currently sit fourth in the OEC standings with a 9-4 overall record.

Cypress will travel to Riverside tomorrow afternoon where they will try to break their losing streak against the Riverside Tigers who happen to be first in the OEC with a 5-1 record as of today.

The Lady Chargers host a double header vs. College of the Desert this Saturday, March 8, with the first game set to start near 12:30 PM.
