CYPRESS, Calif. ---  The Cypress College Athletics Department is proud to announce that Shawn Hansen from the Cypress College Men's Soccer program has been named the August 24-August 31, 2014 "Charger Athlete of the Week."

Hansen has returned for his second season with the Cypress Chargers and has picked up exactly where he left off in 2013.

On August 27, Hansen scored the first goal of the season for the Chargers squad and helped lead Cypress to a 2-0 victory over Cuyamaca College.  Following his performance on August 27, Hansen hit the back of the net once again in their 2-1 victory over Glendale College on August 29.

Following his outstanding week one performance, Shawn recorded a goal and an assist in the Chargers 3-0 victory over Victor Valley College on September 2.

Hansen scored 11 goals in 2013 and is on pace to break his personal record with four goals in four games thus far in 2014.

With 17 regular season games left and a potential post-season bid, Hansen has the opportunity to break the single season goals scored record at Cypress College that was set by Stephen Buzzetta (19) back in 1987.

Cypress has two more non-conference games remaining before their first OEC matchup on September 30 vs. Irvine Valley.
