CHINO, Calif. --- The Cypress Chargers Men's Golf team finished fifth out of 12 teams at the OEC Tee-Off Classic. The fifth place finish was an improvement compared to their seventh place finish earlier in the season at the Victoria CC.
The Chargers had six golfers compete in two rounds of golf throughout the two days. The first half of the Tee-Off classic was a regulation par 72 course while the second day was played on a par 74.
Cypress totalled a 765 after the two days played and defeated OEC opponents Saddleback and Irvine Valley. On top of defeating two OEC teams, the Chargers also defeated Palomar, Cuyamaca, El Camino, Mt. San Jacinto, and Victor Valley.
James Kim shot a 73 on both days and totaled a 146 in the tournament. Kim placed first for the Chargers and ended up finishing sixth overall out of the 72 player field.
Spencer Wilde followed up right behind Kim and ended up shooting a 73 and a 74 in the two days played (147).
OCC's Michael Chen finished the tournament in first place overall with a score of 142.
Cypress looks to continue their success on February 26 when they host their first home match of the season at the Navy GC in Seal Beach, Calif.
Tee-Off is set for 10:00 AM.
