Women's Beach Volleyball standout, Marina Pilkington, earned her first career Charger of the Week Award on Friday. Pilkington is the first recipient of the award on the beach volleyball team this season.

Playing on the No. 3 team, Pilkington won three of her six matches along with her partner, Ashley Corona. The first match win for Pilkington came against Irvine Valley College, where she and Corona won the first and third set, 21-19 and 15-11, to take the win. Her second win came against Westcliff University where she won the first and second set, 21-14 and 21-10. Her third win came in a crucial matchup against Mira Costa, where Pilkington/Corona defeated Huntsman/Kelly in three sets, 21-16, 10-21, 19-17 to secure the team win for Cypress, 3-2.

Pilkington and the No. 6 ranked beach volleyball team will resume Orange Empire Conference action on Friday at Golden West College.
