Rustlers Fall Short Against No. 7 Chargers

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West women' soccer (2-8-1, 0-5 OEC)  played hard in one goal loss against the Cypress Chargers (8-2-2, 3-1-1 OEC), 1-0. 

Golden West welcomed the No. 7 ranked Cypress Chargers for an Orange Empire Conference face off. The game proved to be a battle for possession early on with field positioning being a key factor. Cypress managed to tally a goal at the 21st minute to break through on the scoreboard.The Rustlers went into half down one goal. 

To start the second half, Golden West came out more aggressive then when they began. The Rustlers attempted to drive the ball down the field but were met with the Chargers' defense. Golden West would not be able to come back as they were shut out by Cypress, 0-1. Though the home team was unable to score, it was an achievement in itself to hold the No. 7 Chargers to one goal throughout the entire 90 minutes. Golden West showed their toughness and grit against a Top 10 team in the state. 

NEXT UP: Golden West will be on the road for their next conference matchup against Santa Ana on Friday, October 13th. Kickoff will be at 3pm.
