The Covid-19 virus finally took its toll on the Hawks. Playing short-handed at Cypress College, SCC fell to the Chargers by the score of 79-70 and suffered their first conference loss of the season. The Hawks battled throughout while the game went back and forth. SCC shot the ball well in the first half and were leading 38-36 at intermission. The Hawks were 14 for 28 from the field including 5 for 11 from the three-point line. Aaron Wadman led the way in scoring with 15 points in the half on various drives and finishes around the basket. Drew Yezbak chipped in with 8 points including 2 three-pointers. Yezbak also secured 7 rebounds in the half.
Santiago Canyon built a lead in the second half, but saw the Chargers chip away and finally take the lead with about 4 minutes to go in the half. Cypress made clutch free throws down the stretch and hit a big three-point shot to secure the win. SCC had two players with double-doubles. Wadman finished with 25 points and 11 rebounds, while Yezbak scored 12 points and had 10 rebounds. Erik Howlin rounded out the double digit scorers with 12 points.
