Cypress Earns Third Consecutive Sweep Over Fullerton

CYPRESS, CA - Cypress (14-3, 6-2 OEC) swept the Hornets (1-16, 0-8 OEC) 25-10, 25-10, 25-17 at Don Johnson Court on Friday evening.

The Chargers looked to stay near the top of the Orange Empire Conference as they faced off against the winless Hornets. Fullerton came out strong against the Chargers but the home team showed their strength early. Cypress would separate to win the first set, 25-10.

It was much of the same from both sides in the second set as the Hornets would only score 10 points. The Chargers would pull away once again and win the second set with an identical score to the first, 25-10. Fullerton would put up a fight in the third and final set but Cypress would take control late. The home team completed the sweep and won the final set, 25-17. 

Zoe Ziegler accumulated the most kills with nine and she also had one dig. Hailey Church totaled 20 assists with four digs and one service ace. Andrea Briseno was second in kills with seven, one service ace and three digs. Cypress earned their 14 OEC victory and third consecutive sweep win. 

UP NEXT: The Chargers will be on the road for their next conference matchup against Santiago Canyon on Wednesday, October 18th. Match will begin at 6PM.
