The Cypress College women's volleyball team (12-5, 3-0 OEC) earned their second straight sweep (25-11, 25-12, 25-10) on Friday night against the visiting Santa Ana Dons (1-9, 0-3 OEC).

The Chargers got off to a sluggish start in the first set until Coach Welliver called an early timeout with her team up 8-7. After the timeout Cypress went on a 9-0 run and won the first set 25-11.

After the slow start the Chargers were able to dominate the next two sets, even without their starting setter, Pamela Fa'Alata and libero Emily Witz. Freshman Amy Crowell collected 31 assists for the Chargers, while Jazmyn Covington led the way with 10 kills in 12 attempts. Charger of the Week, Rockelle Gholson made her presence felt with a solid all-around performance, earning 6 kills, 1 assist, 5 aces, and 4 digs.

The Chargers are back in action Wednesday, October 14th against the Rustlers at Golden West College. Start time is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
