Women's Soccer Suffer First Loss in Conference

CYPRESS, CA- Cypress women's soccer (6-2-2, 1-1-1 OEC) suffer first loss in conference at home against Santiago Canyon (7-1-1, 3-0 OEC), 1-0.

The Chargers hosted the Santiago Canyon Hawks on tuesday afternoon for their Hispanic Heritage/Breast Cancer Awareness event.

The Hawks ran away with the 1-0 lead at the end of the first half and doubled the amount of shots on goal compared to the Chargers. Cypress answered with a goal shot by Megan Alcantara that unfortunately was waived for offsides.

In the second half, the Chargers missed four free kick attempts just outside the box. As time had passed, Cypress was unable to recover from the 1-0 deficit. 

In the net for the Chargers was Sofia Lopez with three saves. Itzel Ramirez, Celine Gehrig, Carisia Raygoza, Ashlynn Fobear, and Jasmin Martinez each had one shot on goal.

UP NEXT: Cypress women's soccer will travel to Santa Ana College and face the Dons at 3PM on Friday, October 6th.
