Women's Soccer Battles to a Draw, 0-0

CYPRESS, CA- The #1 ranked Cypress Chargers (7-0, 2-0 OEC) hosted the #5 ranked Saddleback Bobcats (7-0, 1-0 OEC) on Tuesday afternoon. The Chargers and Bobcats went toe-to-toe, but were unable to find the back of the net. The match ended in a draw, 0-0. 

Cypress goalkeeper, Jade Bernardo, was the star of the game for the Chargers as she finished with 13 saves. Forward, Brianna Cortez, was able to get two shots on goal as the Chargers offense was quiet on the afternoon. 

This game was highly anticipated as both teams were undefeated coming into the conference matchup. It was Saddleback, who remained consistent with their attack in the first half putting a lot of pressure on Cypress' defensive front. Goalkeeper Jade Bernardo came up big for the Chargers, totaling 8 saves in the first half alone. Though the Chargers were tested, they held strong in the first half, taking a 0-0 tie into halftime. Saddleback continued to attack the Cypress net as forward, Maliyah Medley, fired shot after shot. The Bobcats out attacked Cypress with 25 shots compared to the Chargers 4. Brianna Cortez had a great opportunity to score with two minutes left in the game, but it was blocked by the Saddleback goalkeeper. The exciting game would eventually end in a 0-0 tie. 

UP NEXT: Conference play with continute this Friday as Cypress travels to Orange Coast College (5-3-1, 0-1 OEC) to take on the Pirates. Kickoff will be at 3pm.
