Four Women’s Basketball Chargers Selected to All-OEC Honors 

CYPRESS, CA – The Orange Empire Conference has released the All-Conference teams and awards for women's basketball for the 2022-2023 season. Cypress has four Chargers who have been selected to All-OEC honors: Ashley Hawkins received Co-MVP, Best Offensive Player and First Team All-State, Jasmine Uy was awarded First Team and Alexcia Alvarez and Jaylene Oviedo were given Second Team Honors. 

Ashley Hawkins - Point Guard

 

Hawkins earned the trifecta of awards from her impressive sophomore season. She has split the OEC-MVP Honors, placed on the All-State First Team and has won Best Offensive Player in the awards inaugural season. The point guard proved to be a strong scoring force on the court leading the conference in points per game with a 23.0 average. She also led the OEC in points scored with 645 which was almost 100 points more than the second place holder who shared MVP honors with Hawkins. 


 

Jasmine Uy "Jazzy" - Guard 

 

In her freshman year, Uy was selected to the All-OEC First Team for her consistent play. She ranked fifth in the conference for her 45.9 field goal percentage along with scoring a total of 263 points. During conference play, Uy improved her game as she finished the regular season a 40.0 three-point and 48.7 field goal percentage. 


 

Alexcia Alvarez "Lexi" - Guard

 

Alvarez has been named to the All-OEC Second Team for her impressive year-long performance at guard. Her offensive play ranked her fourth on the OEC list for field goal percentage with her 46.1%. At the end of the regular season, Alvarez landed top three in many of the Cypress Chargers offensive statistics and has contributed greatly to the playoff push of the team. 



Jaylene Oviedo "Jay" -  Point Guard 

Oviedo completed an overall successful year and has been named to All-OEC Honors for the second consecutive year. In her first season she was named to the First Team while this year she has been placed on the Second Team. Oviedo finished the regular season top three in most offensive statistics for the Chargers along with leading the team in three-points per game and steals per game with a 2.6 average. 

 


The Chargers are preparing for a playoff push as they bypass the First Round of the postseason and will compete in the CCCAA Regional Round Two game. Cypress will host Ventura College on Saturday, February 25th at 7pm.
