7-0 Victory for Cypress Softball on Opening Day

CYPRESS, CA - The Cypress Chargers (1-0) opened up their 2024 season with a 7-0 victory of the East LA Huskies (2-2).

The Chargers starting Pitcher Kaitlyn Reynolds doubled and brought in Jaylene Duarte on her first at bat to put the Chargers in the lead 1-0. In the bottom of the third, Reynolds smacked the ball across the left wall in the outfield for the first home run of the season and brought in Mikala Jacobsen with her to extend the Chargers lead, 3-0. Ashlynn Ortiz continued momentum as she singled in Makayla Motis and then eventually found home plate off a Husky wild pitch for the Chargers, 5-0. Lizbeth Gomez checked in at the bottom of the fifth, doubled, and brought in Motis on her first at bat (6-0). In the next inning, the Chargers defense made three quick stops to get back in the dugout for their final at bats. Jacobsen had Duarte and Kimberley MacPherson on base as she singled in MacPherson for the team's final score of the game, 7-0.
