CYPRESS, CA- Charger softball (34-6, 19-2 OEC) defeated the Golden West Rustlers (11-22, 4-17 OEC) to cap the season series sweep and regular season play on Wednesday, 4-0.

Cypress played their final regular season conference game and are now moving on to compete in the 3C2A Regionals. The Chargers clinched first place in the Orange Empire Conference after they defeated the Fullerton Hornets. The Rustlers visited Cypress College for the final game in the season series between the two teams. 

The offenses were quiet for both lineups as Emily Rush for Cypress and Sennie Viramontes for Golden West pitched three scoreless frames. The home team broke the tie in the bottom of the fourth after small ball execution. With Camryn Addimando on second, Lizbeth Gomez singled her in for the games first one. 

The Chargers separated themselves in the fifth with three runs off of four hits. With bases loaded, Addimando sliced a line drive over the first baseman's head to score two insurance runs. Mikala Jacobsen added a third run in the inning with a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 4-0. 

Third baseman Addimando had a clutch performance at the plate as she went 2-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Gomez played solid behind the plate and started the teams offense with her 1-3 day and tallied an RBI and run scored. Rush pitched a complete game shutout with two strikeouts as well as getting a base hit at the plate. With the win, Cypress completed a season series sweep on Golden West en route to their first place finish in the conference. 

UP NEXT: Cypress has finished the regular season and will now be entering the 3C2A playoffs. Announcements on locations, dates and opponents will be released soon.
