Chargers Blow Past Tigers in Tournament Opener, 18-1

CYPRESS, CA- The #1 Cypress Chargers (30-10, 18-4 OEC) hosted the #8 Riverside Tigers (11-29, 3-19) in the Orange Empire Conference tournament opener on Friday afternoon. The Chargers sailed past the Tigers, 18-1, in five innings of play. 

Cypress' 18 runs was the most for the Chargers this season as they scored in all four frames in which they hit. Camryn Addimando (2-for-2, 2 runs) and Ariana Hencke (2-for-3, 1 run) led the team in RBI's (3) while six chargers recorded two hits a piece. Jordan Thompson (2-for-3, BB) led the team with 3 runs scored as she reached base safely three times. Eliza Sandoval got the start in the circle for Cypress throwing 3.0 innings while allowing only 2 hits and striking out 2 batters. 

After scoring one run in the first inning, Cypress exploded for 9 runs on 7 hits in the second inning to blow the game open 10-0. The Chargers would go on to score 3 in the third inning and 5 in the fourth inning before Riverside got on the board with 1 run in the top of the fifth. Cypress will look to keep the bats hot in round 2 of the OEC tournament. 

UP NEXT: #1 Cypress will host the #4 Fullerton Hornets on Monday, April 25th, for the OEC tournament semi-finals. First pitch will be at 2pm.
