Men's Water Polo Secures First OEC Victory against Fullerton, 22-3

CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress Men's Water Polo team (8-7, 1-4 OEC) defeated Fullerton College (2-17, 0-5 OEC) in commanding fashion by a score of 22-3. The Chargers were led by Cameron Davidson, who finished with seven goals, three assists and three steals. Brian Hunyh added six goals and three steals, while Brandon Rubio had five goals, two assists and three steals.

The Chargers jumped out to any early lead of 5-0 with four minutes remaining in the first period, resulting in a Fullerton timeout. Fullerton was able to score after the timeout, but it did not slow down the Cypress attack as the first quarter ended 8-1. Both teams settled in and though the Fullerton defense picked up its intensity, the Cypress defense was unforgiving, allowing only one goal in the entire first half. The third quarter continued in the same fashion, Cypress staying aggressive offensively while Fullerton struggled to get anything going. The Fullerton Hornets scored once in each the third and fourth quarters but a steal and fast break goal by Cameron Davidson in the fourth quarter put the stamp on the afternoon. Cypress finished with their highest scoring game on the season and their first OEC win, 22-3.

NEXT UP: The Chargers will travel to Southwestern College for the Dia de Los Muertos tournament to finish their season before the OEC Championships.
