Cypress Draws with San Bernardino in Season Opener, 1-1

CYPRESS, CA - Cypress Men's Soccer ends in a draw (1-1) against the San Bernardino Valley Wolverines in their home opener at Ray Haas Field.

The Chargers had a slow start as the Wolverines dominated possession for majority of the first half. David Rezko in the final minutes of the half, stole the ball from the Wolverines back line and found the back of the net (44:05) to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead and momentum.

Going into the second half, Cypress turned up the heat against SBVC with multiple shots on goal opportunities. The Wolverines were saved by the post at the 70th minute mark when Rafay Shafique shot the ball to the left post that would have gave the Chargers a 2-0 lead.

The Wolverines did not let up and near the end of the game, Juan Bonola jumped and scored off a header from a pass by Ezequiel Soto. With less than 10 minutes of gameplay, Cypress men's soccer could not respond and the Wolverines forced the draw, 1-1.

UP NEXT: The Chargers will travel to Citrus College for non-conference play and face the Owls on Friday, September 1st at 3:00PM.
