CYPRESS, CA- The Cypress men's soccer team (5-4-3, 9-6-5) have advanced to the CCCAA playoffs for the second time in two seasons under Head Coach Cristian Rus. The #16 Chargers will travel to #1 Mt. San Antonio on Saturday November 20th for the first round of the CCCAA Regional Playoffs.
Chargers men's soccer had a highly competitive season as they battled in a talented Orange Empire Conference. Five of the sixteen teams selected for the Southern California Regionals competed in the OEC this season (#4 Golden West, #5 Fullerton, #8 Santa Ana, #9 Irvine Valley, and #16 Cypress). The Chargers ranked third in the conference while Mt. SAC was crowned champion of the South Coast Conference. Cypress men's soccer has a career record against Mt. San Antonio of 2-3-1 dating back to 1987. The most recent match was played in 1993 where the Mounties defeated Cypress, 4-0.
The winner of the match will take on the winner of #8 Santa Ana and #9 Irvine Valley on Tuesday November 23rd in the Second Round of the Regional Playoffs. The full bracket for the SoCal Regionals can be found here.
