Chargers Fall in Hard Fought Battle Against Golden West, 4-2

CYPRESS, CA- The Cypress men's soccer team (5-3-2, 1-1 OEC) took on Golden West College (6-1-3, 2-0 OEC) this afternoon in their second OEC match up of the season, losing 4-2. 

Cypress opened the scoring with a beautiful goal from Gustavo Oleta in the eighth minute. Golden West was quick to respond, though, tying it up a minute later. The Chargers were able to regain the lead with about ten minutes remaining in the half, as Carlos Daniel Nava assisted Cal Richards to find the back of the net. In the second half, Cypress fought to keep their lead but the physical play leaned in favor of Golden West. The Rustlers scored a quick goal to start the second half to tie the score at two a-piece. The Chargers defense held strong by stopping numerous attacks, but Golden West eventually broke through, taking the lead in the 83rd minute. The Chargers had two corners in the final minutes but were unable to score, the Rustlers eventually ended the game with a goal in extra time, winning 4-2.
