CYPRESS, CA- The Cypress men's basketball team (8-5, 0-1 OEC) hosted Saddleback College (8-4, 1-0 OEC) on Wednesday night in their first conference match-up of the season. Though Cypress led the majority of the game, they fell after a late comeback by the Bobcats, 70-68.

Felix Reeves led the scoring for the Chargers with 15 points including 4-6 from behind the arc. Tommie Flanagan filled up the stat sheet with 11 points, five rebounds and five steals while Trent Goldmann added 10 points off the bench.

The Chargers jumped out to an early 14-7 lead after a three from Felix Reeves. Saddleback were quick to respond but an off-balance three pointer from Tommie Flanagan gave Cypress a 14 point lead with just under two minutes left in the first half. Cypress would lead at halftime, 38-28.

Cypress struggled from the field, their defense carried them into the second half, maintaining a comfortable lead over the Bobcats. Felix Reeves found Grant Sii in the corner for a three pointer as the Chargers went up by ten with 12 minutes to go. Sharp shooting from Saddleback would keep them in the game but each time they closed the gap, Cypress would answer to maintain their lead. With two minutes left the Bobcats took their first lead of the game after a deep three from Jimuel Reyes, 63-61. The two teams traded free throws and a late put-back from Ramiah Adedigba brought the Chargers within one point with 22 seconds remaining. Cypress had the last possession but were unable to get into their set before time expired, falling 70-68.

UP NEXT: Conference play will continue this Friday as the Chargers hit the road for a match-up against Santiago Canyon. Tip-off will be at 6pm.
