SANTA CLARITA, CA - Cypress men's basketball (8-4) hit the road to take on #23 College of the Canyons (6-3) in their final game before conference play. The Chargers took it to the Cougars as they came up with the victory on the road, 86-73.

Trent Goldman had a career game off the bench for Cypress where he scored 31 points with five rebounds and two steals. Goldman did his damage at the free throw line knocking down 14 of 16 shots and shooting an efficient 7 of 11 from the field. Tommie Flanagan scored a season-high 17 points in his first game back from injury. Flanagan also led the team in assists (4) and steals (4). Hadi Essayli joined Flanagan with a team high four steals to go along with 11 rebounds and six points. 

Canyons got out to an early five point lead, 10-5, but a timeout by the Chargers ignited the offense. Out of the timeout, Flanagan knocked down a three-pointer, as the Chargers and Cougars went back and forth. Trent Goldman would knock down back-to-back free throws followed by a three-pointer to put the Chargers out in front. Cypress would hang on to a 39-32 lead heading into halftime leaving the Cougars stunned. The Chargers kept their foot on the gas in the second half as they expanded their lead as large as 20. Trent Goldman exploded for 18 points in the second half as he continually worked his way to the free throw line. The Cougars were able to cut the deficit to 12 with four minutes to play, but the Cypress offense was just too much. The Chargers went on to win the game, 86-73. 

UP NEXT: Conference play begins on December 15th, as the Chargers host the Saddleback Bobcats. Tip-off will be at 5pm.
