Chargers Travel to Santa Ana College for the Super Regionals

CYPRESS, CA- Cypress baseball (28-13) will visit Santa Ana College for a double elimination event with the No. 9 seed Santa Barbara City and the No. seed 4 Santa Ana College.

In their first round of the 3C2A bracket, the No. 5 seed Chargers tallied double-digits in both of their victories against the No. 20 seed Cerro Coso. The first contest came down to the wire as the visiting Coyotes battled back but fell short in the ninth. For the final game, the Cypress arms shut down the Cerro Coso bats in a shutout dominant performance. With an 11-0 win, the Chargers advanced to a double elimination situation.

The team will now travel to Santa Ana College to first take on the Santa Barbara City College Vaqueros on Thursday, May 11th. The loser will play the same day against the Santa Ana Dons. Then on Friday, the winners of both of those matchups will battle.

Cypress begins the two-day event versus the Vaqueros who are coming off a playoff series win against an Orange Empire Conference competitor, Golden West College. Santa Barbara City College dropped the first game against the Rustlers, but came back to win the series in the final two games. The Vaqueros finished first in the Western State Conference with their overall record of 29-14 and conference of 17-7.

While the Chargers excelled offensively throughout the year, Santa Barbara City's strength was their pitching. The Vaqueros led the WSC in ERA, runs allowed and hits allowed. Both teams will be playing on neutral ground at Santa Ana College with the opportunity to continue to advance in the 3C2A Tournament.
