Cypress, CA- The Cypress Chargers baseball program have seen their alums flourish this summer as five Chargers have played in the MLB this season, most recently starting pitcher for the New York Mets, Tylor Megill. 

Tylor Megill is the most recent success story for the Chargers as he as been excellent on the mound for the New York Mets this season. Megill made his major league debut on June 23rd when he faced the Atlanta Braves. Megill had a short but impressive showing as he threw 4.1 innings, striking out four, while only allowing three hits and two earned runs. Tylor got another shot at the Braves in his second career start on June 29th. Megill looked comfortable on the mound as he fanned eight batters over five innings pitched. Megill's third start of the season was his best yet as he faced the Milwaukee Brewers. Tylor was dominant as he allowed two hits and one run over five innings pitched. Megill threw 92 pitches in his third outing striking out seven. Tylor Megill is still searching for his first major league win, but the Mets are 3-0 in games in which Megill was the starting pitcher. 

Tylor Megill, 25, played for the Chargers in 2016 where he served as the ace on the Cypress pitching staff. Megill was an All-OEC first team selection after finishing the season with the second most wins in the state (11). In his 17 appearances on the mound, Megill collected 87 strikeouts with a 3.72 ERA in 101.2 innings. After one year at Cypress, Megill signed with the University of Arizona, and was drafted by the Mets in 2018. Megill progressed through the minors quickly as he only appeared in nine games above Class-A before getting the call to the big leagues. Tylor is scheduled to make his next start for the Mets on Saturday, July 10 against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
