NICE FINISH AT THE LA VALLEY TOURNAMENT

Taking on two straight losses to start off the LA Valley Tournament, the Hornets finished it with a nice 74-72 win over Orange Empire Conference rival Cypress College.

On Thursday, Fullerton opened up the LA Valley Tounament with a 71-50 defeat at the hands of No. 8 in state San Francisco. FC had a hard time shooting as the team was 28.8% from the floor. Only one Hornet scored in double digits in Xochitl Hood scored 11 points while bringing down 7 rebounds. 

In the second game of the tournament on Friday, the Hornets took on Rio Hondo College and fell 54-48. Fullerton had another hard time putting it in the basket hitting 26.1%, however the team did score 17 points from turnovers. Xocchitl Hood was once again the team scoring leader with 17 points. Toni Ballestero chipped in with 8 points and 5 rebounds.

On Saturday, Fullerton earned a much-needed victory over district and conference rival Cypress College 74-72. The Hornets were hot from the floor shooting 37.5% and had three players score in double digits. Xochitl Hood had a huge double-double game with 27 points and 14 rebounds. Toni Ballestero scored 17 points with 4 rebounds, while Jasmine Arnold dropped in 11 points with 2 steals. It was a true back-and-forth battle that featured 17 lead changes and 8 ties with Fullerton taking the upperhand in the last 2 minutes of the fourth quarter. 

Up Next: The Hornets (4-5 overall) will be hosting the the 44th Colleen Riley Holiday Crossover December 14-16. On Thursday, FC welcomes College of the Canyons to the Hornets Nest at 7:00 PM.
