Pirates blank Chargers, 9-0
CYPRESS -- The Orange Coast College women's tennis team made the absolute most out of their road trip up to Cypress College, blanking the Chargers, 9-0 on Tuesday, in an Orange Empire Conference matchup.
For the Pirates, not only is this their 10th straight win without a loss, it was a dominating performance that saw Coast not lose a single game throughout the entire session.
In doubles, the teams of Reha Gagnepain/Leanne Pascua and Charlize Flandrois/Raelynn Palmer each earned 8-0 wins for Coast. Doubles No. 3 was won by default.
It was more of the same in singles as Tori Varela (6-0, 6-0), Olivia Sipiora (6-0, 6-0), Merrit Dubourdieu (6-0, 6-0) and Kayla Cheng (6-0, 6-0) all earned double-bagel wins for the Pirates. Singles Nos. 5 & 6 were won by default.
Coast will return to the OCC Tennis Complex for a crucial showdown with fellow-unbeaten Riverside City College on Thursday, beginning at 2 p.m.
