CHARGED-UP FRIDAY NIGHT VICTORY!

The No. 1 in state FC men's soccer team welcomed the Cypress College Chargers to Sherbeck Field Friday night and posted a nice 4-0 win over its district and conference rival.

Fullerton's win bumps its overall record to 12-1-1, and the team remains undefeated at 5-0-1 in the Orange Empire Conference. Cypress falls to 4-7-2 overall and 2-3-1 in the OEC.

It did not take long for the Hornets to get on the board as Misael Gonzalez knocked in his 15th goal on the season in the 14th minute on a drive up the middle.

Six minutes burnt off the clock and Gonzalez struck again on a break-away up the middle kicking the ball between the Cypress goal keeper's legs. The goal was Misael's 16th, which places him as the top goal scorer in the state.

Fullerton went up 3-0 in the 28th minute when Juan Luis Quintana got in on the action after taking the feed from Garrett Eikermann.

Near the start of the second half, FC put up its fourth goal on a shot by Hayden Kenny. Misael Gonzalez was credited with the assist.

The FC defense countered the Chargers every advance making an easy night for goalie Mario Floriano, who clinched his 3rd shutout of the season.

Up Next: The No. 1 Hornets (12-1-1 overall, 5-0-1) have a tough match-up against another OEC rival this Tuesday, October 17th when they travel to Golden West College. Game time is at 3:00 pm.
