Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West women's beach volleyball (6-7, 4-3 OEC) split their conference matchups against the Fullerton Hornets (1-12, 1-5 OEC) and Cypress Chargers (3-7, 3-3 OEC), 1-1. 

On Friday morning, Golden West hosted Fullerton and Cypress College for a three team Orange Empire Conference competition. The Rustlers took on the Hornets first as Golden West Maci Hendry and Mackenzie Dorney made quick work of their opposite pairs. The two won in two sets by a hefty margin of 21-6 and 21-5. Peyton McBride and Ashlynd Larson followed with a comparable performance as they won 21-8 and 21-5. 

After a 21-11 set win, Adrianna Morales and Elyse Varipapa would be the first duo to lose a set for Golden West. The Rustlers dropped the second set 7-21 but quickly responded to win an exciting third and final set, 16-14. Hayden Murray and Leslie Cambray finished off Fullerton with a two set win 21-12 and 21-9. Fullerton forfeited the final set as the Rustlers earned a sweep, 5-0. Golden West heavily struggled against Cypress as the Rustlers were swept, 0-5. 

NEXT UP: The Rustlers will remain home to take on Saddleback College on Friday, March 22. The meeting will begin at 10am.
