NEW YEAR WIN AT CYPRESS

On Wednesday night, the No. 4 Hornets rang in the New Year with a 59-47 road-victory over district and Orange Empire Conference rival Cypress College. 

It was the fifth straight win for FC putting the team at 12-3 overall and 3-0 in the OEC. The Cypress loss gives the Chargers a 6-9 overall record and puts the team at 1-2 in the Orange Empire Conference.

The first ten minutes of the game were tight as both teams went at it shot for shot. Tied 10-10, Cypress pulled ahead 17-12 at the 7-minute mark when Christian James III drove the lane for a layup. With 4:59 left in the half, Amound Anderson II knocked down both of his free throws giving FC an 18-17 advantage. The Hornets pressed ahead with a 10-3 run to end the half with a 28-20 lead.

Fullerton did not let up in the second half holding the Chargers to 27 total points (30.4% shooting), while forcing 8 turnovers. The Hornets kept the pressure on pushing their largest lead of 15 with just over a minute left in regulation. 

Jeremiah Davis remained hot through the holiday break scoring a game-high 21 points, with 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. Amound Anderson II scored 9 points, Godfrey Little dropped in 6, and Christian Watson put up 5 with 7 boards. 

Up Next: The No. 4 in state Hornets (12-3 overall, 3-0 OEC) will face off against No. 20 Santiago Canyon College (12-3 overall, 3-0 OEC) at home this Friday, January 5th. Both teams are deadlocked in first place in the Orange Empire Conference standings. Come on out to this great OEC matchup! Game time is at 6:00 pm.
