CYPRESS, CA - Larissa Samano of the Cypress Chargers Beach Volleyball team has been named the Charger of the Week for her outstanding performance in a thrilling comeback win against Golden West College 2's pair and victory over Fullerton.
In the first match against Golden West, Larissa's team faced a tough challenge, dropping the first set 14:21 and trailing by 5-6 points throughout most of the second set against the strong Golden West 2's pair of McBride and Larson. However, Larissa and her teammate didn't lose courage and mounted a remarkable comeback. They saved a couple of match points, tied the set at 20:20, and eventually won 22:20. Larissa's exceptional blocking and attacking were instrumental in the comeback.
Larissa and Ashlyn carried this energy into the third deciding set and never looked back, winning 15:9. Larissa's pair continued their success by defeating Fullerton's 2's pair in straight sets. As a team, the Chargers dominated, defeating Fullerton City College 4-1 and sweeping Fullerton College, 5-0.
