Michelle Navarro was named the Cypress College Sports Information Director in the fall of 2022. Navarro spent the year prior as a Sports Information/Marketing Intern with Cypress College Athletics during the 2021-2022 season. 

At Cypress, Michelle manages all marketing and communications for 14 intercollegiate sports, including social media and website management, game management, branding, content creation, and statistics.  

Prior to her arrival at Cypress College, she worked at the City of Downey Parks & Recreation Department for 9 years where she began as a recreation leader before being promoted to Youth & Adult Sports Activity Specialist. With the City of Downey, she oversaw 10 youth sports, managed staff, contractors, coaches and officials, designed marketing materials, organized camps and community events and established the first adult women’s basketball league in 2017. 

In 2019, she interned with the WNBA LA Sparks organization in Youth Basketball Operations. She assisted the Jr. Sparks community outreach program with administrative duties, event-planning and day of event responsibilities for youth basketball clinics, camps, and tournaments. 

During her JUCO days, Michelle played as a guard for the Cerritos College Falcons. Her two years through 2013-2015 were coached by the great Karen Welliver. Coach Welliver led the Falcons for three decades from 1983-2015. In Welliver’s last season at Cerritos, Michelle was named Captain in her sophomore year along with being voted the most inspirational player.

She obtained her bachelor's degree in Psychology at Long Beach State University, prior to earning her master's degree in Sport Management from Long Beach State.

Michelle currently resides in Buena Park, CA and is an avid WNBA fan.
