Meet Our Academic Counselor!

Joseph Jimenez

Joseph began his Cypress tenure in the fall of 2021 after spending several years at Los Angeles Harbor College. In addition to completing his Master’s degree, he worked as an assistant in their academic support center for athletics. Joseph’s career path then took him to the Bay Area where he spent two years at San Jose City College and Berkeley City College before returning to the southland where he did a short stint at Oxnard College before joining the athletic department here at Cypress.

Joseph grew up in La Mirada and prepped at St. John Bosco in Bellflower. He continued his playing career at Cal Maritime where he competed for the Men’s Water Polo team in addition to two years in their rugby program. As a former student-athlete, Joseph stated he understands the difficulties of juggling academics and athletics and wants to help those on a similar journey. Joseph honed his communication skills as a Swim and Water Polo coach at Artesia and La Mirada High Schools. It is this ability to communicate with student-athletes as a former student-athlete himself that allows him to provide our athletes with the excellent guidance they deserve.

Joseph remains active in his free time. He has traveled extensively throughout the world. He is still competitive with a club water polo program and he enjoys hitting the gym and weightlifting. Joseph and his wife Laura are the proud humans of a miniature Schnauzer named Arlo.

Joseph can be reached by phone at (714) 484-7015.
