Josie Miller Signs with Concordia University Irvine

CYPRESS, CA – Cypress College women's water polo standout, Josie Miller, committed to Concordia University Irvine on Tuesday. The Concordia Eagles compete at the NCAA Division II level as a member of the Pac West Conference.

"It's a beautiful campus and such a small tight knit community. I got to meet a lot of the faculty and students on my visit and everyone was just so nice," said Miller.

The Newport Harbor High School alumnus appeared in 21 games for the Chargers last season, netting 60 goals with 13 assists and 41 steals. She helped lead the Lady Chargers to a 14-8 overall record and an appearance in the CCCAA SoCal Regional Quarterfinal.

"Cypress was really good for me. I developed a lot, both in the pool as an athlete and as a student in the classroom," said Miller. "I never really put the emphasis on school before I got to Cypress, but everyone was so supportive of me here."

The Eagles are coming off a 9-15 season, facing nine teams ranked in the nation's top-25, under Head Coach Dreason Barry. Miller is excited to take on the challenge at the next level. "I expect to step into the same role I had at Cypress when I get to Concordia. I want to bring that high energy and be a leader. Whether I'm a starter or on the bench I want to be a leader."

Miller will major in kinesiology at Concordia University, with plans of going to graduate school and beginning a career in occupational therapy.
