Freshman women's water polo standout Kaylie Merrill received her first Charger of the Week on Thursday after outstanding performances in five games last week, which included a 3-1 record at the San Diego Mesa Water Polo Classic (Sept. 25-Oct. 1). 
Merrill helped lead the Chargers to four wins in five games last week, including the Chargers' first Orange Empire Conference victory of the season over Santa Ana. The Garden Grove High School alumna notched 32 saves last week, including a season-high 14 saves in Cypress' 11-7 victory over tournament host San Diego Mesa.
Merrill now ranks 13th in the CCCAA with 83 saves this season.
